Hi,
We emulate G4/mac99 when using qemuppc target and kernel is in sync with this as well where we enable 6xx features + altivec
However the toolchain defaults are assuming e500 core.
COLLECT_GCC_OPTIONS='-v'
/a/builder/mnt/build-oe/tmp-glibc/sysroots/x86_64-linux/usr/libexec/powerpc-oe-linux/gcc/powerpc-oe-linux/5.3.0/as -v -mp
pc -mspe -me500 -many -mbig -o /tmp/kraj/ccVovKJt.o /tmp/kraj/ccTpr8No.s
see -mspe and -me500 option being passed when invoking the default compiler.
There are subtle differences e.g. tlbie instruction is not supported
on e500 CPUs so compile for kernel would fail with new 2.26 binutils and so on.
I think using e500 core as default may be desirable since most of 32bit ppc targets that OE may be used are close to it, however it
may not be right tuning for emulator.
Thoughts?
-Khem
