The "nodistro" piece of OE-Core does need to pick a default policy. The
BSP can then optionally choose a better default but the final choice
comes down to the distro.
We do actually need defaults in the core of the project else we end up
in the bad old OE days where things just fail in hard to figure out
ways. softfp was always the OE default for ARM but with modern ARM
hardware, it makes much less sense than it used to a decade+ ago. That
was why Andre's patch seemed sensible and I merged it.
There is nothing stopping either machines or distros from deviating
from the default policy.
Does that help explain things?
Cheers,
Richard
