I have this problem too. Usually the detection of the stylus position goes
wacky at the same time. This is EXTREMELY frustrating! It most often occurs
after it wakes up from a nap. I tried the most recent 2008 kernel hh21.5, I
believe and the
problem was worse. It seemed to take much longer for it to settle out.

With any of the kernels I've tried its intermittent during usage but guaranteed
to happen after a wake up. Since I tend to use it to document my jobs I
frequently want to wake it up and add notes. Unfortunately its impossible to
use it because of this issue.

I had reverted it back to windoze and never could reproduce the problem so I'm
fairly confident this is a software issue.
