I've tested it with:
DISTRO = "angstrom-2008.1"
MACHINE = "at91sam9263ek"

This links fine and I can use serialisation.
The boost v1.36 fails to link on this machine - you need to apply a patch to be able to link.
Should I update that recipe too?
