I made a couple of commits to gnome-mplayer, you can see them at

Things should compile again smoothly.  Please open a new ticket for problems
with the binaries.  Try 0.9.5 first, or better yet, the SVN binary.  Paul has
made some patches for OE, they may address your problem, but only apply to the
SVN version.
