With the current git HEAD, I built toolchains with an existing toolchain
installed in $SDK_PATH and did not have build failures of gcc-cross-sdk-4.2.4
and newer.

Maybe, the problem is limited to gcc-cross-sdk-4.1.2 and the situation was
improved in 2008 and the new stable branch was done in 2009, the stable/2009
branch has these improvements.

I assume that should be much improved or fixed (at least to my experience) in
current HEAD which just got a heavvy rework of the toolchain stuff. Please
reopen if HEAD is still affected.
