I test with the same setting with exception of glibc version, the building
failure has not appeared. The glibc version is glibc-2.10.1 

To reproduce my building, set the following in your local.conf
MACHIN= qemux86 
DISTRO= minimal  or DISTRO=micro
LIBC= glibc
PREFERRED_VERSION_glibc             ?= "2.10.1"
PREFERRED_VERSION_glibc-initial     ?= "2.10.1"
