What kind of testing did you do with this? dpkg is a pretty major tool 
used for the debian packaging system and has been known to have problems 
in the past.

It would be best to build a system with PACKAGE_CLASSES = "package_deb"

And also try to install packages on the target system using the above 
created image.

The package management tools, such as this, ipk, apt, rpm, zypper, ... 
need extra testing due to their core usage in the system.
