I use it this way here and it works. Which glibc version are you
using? In my case I'm using:

angstrom 2008 versions, plus:

PREFERRED_VERSION_gcc                    = "4.3.2"
PREFERRED_VERSION_gcc-cross              = "4.3.2"
PREFERRED_VERSION_gcc-cross-sdk          = "4.3.2"
PREFERRED_VERSION_gcc-cross-initial      = "4.3.2"
PREFERRED_VERSION_gcc-cross-intermediate = "4.3.2"

And I build in stable; but this is not supposed to affect it.
