[oe] any value to "ftps" download support, and getting commit access

given that i am currently, as they say, between jobs, i have time to
wreak havoc on both the bitbake and OE manuals since that seems like
the best way to finally understand this.

first question -- even though base.bbclass supports the ftps
download protocol, i see not a single example of it anywhere in the
current OE dev branch. is it actually ever used?

second, as i paw through the source and documentation, i'm taking
the time to scan the source code to see actual examples of most of
those features and, sometimes, it's enlightening to learn that some of
those features are totally unused.

finally, while i'm sure this will frighten a few people, if i could
get commit access to the OE repo, i could check in a lot of these doc
fixes myself. i'd still post them to the list, someone higher up the
food chain could Ack them, then i could commit. and as long as i'm
restricting myself to innocuous or doc-related fixes, it's unlikely
i'd break anything.

in any event, i do want to immerse myself in straightening out the
docs and learning along the way, so someone can decide whether that
justifies write access.
