just to update...I've reproduced this bug on normal linux install 2.6.15
kubuntu distrib, using pcmciautils, so it's not particular to OZ, at the moment
it looks like a bluez issue.

I took a look at the original initialization code from the last working version
of bt950_cs.c. In hciattach.c I've replaced the code in the ericcson init with
that, and also commented out some the commands altering tty settings.

If the tty settings or the ericsson commands are used in addition to the
bt950_cs init commands,  it has the same issue as before (is always DOWN and no
mac).

Anyway, by using only the bt950 init commands the interface does now UP, it's
visible by other bt devices, but timesout when I try to scan from it ;/

Hopefully that's not too hard to resolve and all will be well after.
