Summary: Build many more Ruby extensions
           Product: Openembedded
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: P2
         Component: Distributions
        AssignedTo: openembedded-issues at lists.openembedded.org
        ReportedBy: mpalmer at hezmatt.org
         QAContact: tinderbox-oe at gmx.net

The current 1.8.5 Ruby bitbake spec (as of yesterday, anyway) doesn't build
many commonly used C extensions, such as socket, openssl, zlib, and curses.
I've patched the spec file (and the Ruby source) to successfully build these
extensions, by tricking the extmk.rb script into using the correct library and
include directories (the target's ones) instead of the default build
directories. It also adds the dependencies needed for building the openssl and
zlib extensions.

I'd attach the patch to this bug, except that I committed it to my local
monotone tree and now I can't get the diff back. I've asked the oe-devel list
for help with this; details of the patch will be added here once I know how.
