"bitbake -b ../../org.openembedded.dev/packages/altboot/altboot_svn.bb" works. 
The resulting packages does not completely screw up the collie ;-)  But it also
seems non-functional.  I guess there is some work that needs to be done for
collie/2.6 and altboot.

Altboot would complain about a missing /etc/altboot-2.6.cfg which I created by
simple renaming of /etc/altboot-2.4.cfg.  Reboot would then ask me for a
password.  But the actual reboot did not seem to happen.
