That behavior is expected, the fakeroot session 'collapses' as soon as you exit
it which is in this case as soon as do_install completes so that owner ship
will not make it into the images. I'm not sure if we have an existing method to
handle issues like this but its not a fakeroot problem. Perhaps ask on the
mailing lists...
