Answering misplaced comment in gpe bug: my personal keyboard layout needs
currently are: English, Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish. As you see, I'm hardly
satisfied with what's currently available for Angstrom. But I *do* some work in
that direction, not just ramble about would-be-nice. So, on behalf
cyrillic-scripting community I (yeah, as usual, I was hoping someone else will
do it, but again, I had to drop everything and bother with this, heh) found
existing Russian layout for xkbd, RFCed its inclusion in image by default on
the basis that it would show people that Cyrillic is supported on Angstrom,
while offer the most popular Cyrillic language with pretty sizeable Angstrom
community OOB. Besides that, I did a lot of patching of both xkbd and
matchbox-keaboard to get virtual kbd input, including i18n'ed, be actually
usable by mere humans. If you'd bother to keep and eye on Angstrom list and OE
commits, you'd know this and didn't bother to argue with me on whether I care
about i18n or no.
So, personal suggestion: get out of the whole you dug for youself and get to
work! For the time we spent arguing, you could have created German keyboard
already. This bug is treated as dependency for 2007 release, and ony - let's
face it - your laziness can preclude the layout to not be available for it. In
what way - via feeds or installed in image - is another q. We can't support
*every* language by default, get a hint from Russian - there're bunch of
Cyrillic languages, but only Russian is worth including by default. It's up to
you to decide if German should be in by default.
