It looks like it's a divide-by-zero. If I run init 6 from VT 1 I see:
/etc/init.d/rc: /etc/init.d/rc: 171: divide by zero
I don't see any division on line 171, but perhaps it's line 30 which divides by
num_steps. If I comment that line out "init 6" works fine.
