Per Single Unix Specification (and/or POSIX), any number of slashes may appear
in path, and such path is well-formed.

This likely grows from "root" destination defined as "/" and absolute path
used. They are concatenated with such harmless effect. Hardly worth fixing, but
of course patches can be submitted upstream ;-)
