I wrote down the setup sequence with OZ/GPE 3.5.4 on the SL-5000 and used this
to go through the setup with OZ/GPE 3.5.4.1 on an SL-C700. I go through to the
end and found the brightness/contrast applet, which is a slider applet on the
lower right toolbar (left side on 3.5.4). Unfortunately, using this applet does
not affect the contrast on the C700.

Without help, that's as far as I can take this.
