mkfontdir_1.0.3.bb (and its cousin, mkfontdir-native_1.0.3.bb) both use
xorg-app-common.inc, which for better or worse, assumes that the tarball will
come from a 7.X release of the X code - which is no longer true for many cases
- long story short, the URL for this (and possibly other xorg-app packages) is
broken.

The correct URL for mkfontdir 1.0.3 is:
http://xorg.freedesktop.org/releases/individual/app/mkfontdir-${PV}.tar.bz2
