I can confirm the bug in initrd and kernel taken from
http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/images/collie/20070709/

altboot is not related, because I have not installed any.

root at collie:~$ uname -a
Linux collie 2.6.21 #1 PREEMPT Tue Jul 10 18:39:04 CEST 2007 armv4l unknown
root at collie:~$ lsmod | grep locomo
locomo_spi             13624  0 
root at collie:~$ lsmod | grep mmc   
mmc_spi                12000  0 
mmc_block               6696  0 
mmc_core               23540  2 mmc_spi,mmc_block
root at collie:~$ ls -l /dev | grep mmc
root at collie:~$ 

Yes, there is SD plugged in that used to work under older kernel.
