Yes, I confirmed it in
$ gpe-conf ownerinfo
and x-terminal-emulator, actually rxvt.

A note:
if you change modmap in rxvt, you must once close rxvt and restart to let it
take effect.

To avoid this, I put these three lines in /etc/X11/shepherd.xmodmap.

add     mod5 Mode_switch
remove mod4 Mode_switch
keycode 20 = minus minus at

/etc/X11/Xinit.d/12keymap tries to read this file, but now this file doesn't
exist.
