------- Comment #2 from mail at jeroenhoek.nl  2007-05-01 06:23 -------
Apparantly ipkg wants to install it because it is a dependancy of a some things
evince needs. For example:

gnome-vfs-plugin-dbus (provides dependancy gnome-vfs for evince):

Package: gnome-vfs-plugin-file
Version: 2.16.3-r2
Depends: gnome-vfs, gamin (>= 0.1.8), libglib-2.0-0 (>= 2.12.11), libc6 (>=
2.5), gconf-dbus (>= 2.16.0+svn20070412), libdbus-glib-1-2 (>= 0.72), dbus-1
(>= 1.0.2), gnome-vfs (>= 2.16.3)

This gamin dependancy only shows up in (a freshly updated) /var/lib/ipkg/base,
not in the feed-browser. (?)

More info:

Ångström version: 200704021504
Output of ipkg install evince:

Installing evince (0.6.1-r0) to root...
Downloading
http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/feed/armv5te/base/evince_0.6.1-r0_armv5te.ipk
Nothing to be done
An error ocurred, return value: 1.
Collected errors:
ERROR: Cannot satisfy the following dependencies for evince:
         gamin (>= 0.1.8)

Installing evince with the gamin dependancy removed from gnome-vfs-plugin-file
installs, but I can't open a document. I have a PDF document that does work in
epdfview, but not in evince. I don't know if this is because of gamin, but the
error does occur upon opening the file.
