I flashed images from
http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/images/collie/20070422/ and
observed the same behaviors related to meta-bug 2148.

I noticed that the screen flickered fairly importantly while showing the boot
logo (in landscape mode). I am unsure whether the flicker was already there
before switching from text-mode boot message to graphical splash screen.

The effect never happened on OpenZaurus 3.5.4/Opie before I tried Angstrom and
disappeared as soon as I reflashed to OpenZaurus 3.5.4/Gpe, under the same
lighting condition.

The machine was not under a lamp that could interfere (such as a neon tube).
The last time I observed a similar flicker in the past was on some laptop where
X asked the video board a refresh rate not quite supported by the LCD screen.
