I noticed this issue would randomly occur after I had installed at. Out of 6
reboots, I noticed the issue 4 times. After booting into the recovery console
(d+b) and running a fsck on the root and home partitions I could not reproduce
the issue after 10 consecutive reboots.

You can reboot the spitz when this occurs by pressing Fn+Left, logging in as
root and issuing "reboot -n".
