Yes, I followed http://www.openembedded.org/wiki/GettingStarted
when I setup build environment for OpenZaurus and later arranged following
http://www.linuxtogo.org/gowiki/BuildEnvironment
to change it for Angstrom.

I'm using Debian/GNU Linux 4.0(etch) on my host.
Is this the right answer to your question?
I'm suspicious if it is OK to use monotone 0.33.
Debian packaged monotone 0.32 is not available on official archive for x86
architecture.
And I use bitbake 1.8.2, maybe you already noticed.
