In perl 5.8.8 all versions are built with threading enabled. I tried to keep
the host and target configurations as close as possible in this build. A few
people have applications that require threading support to be enabled in perl
and therefore we enabled threading by default.

This would have been rather difficult to fix in 5.8.7 without a lot of
breakage, so I added 5.8.8 primarily in order to resolve this issue.
