Summary: Sleep/suspend problem on Zaurus 3100 (spitz)
Product: Openembedded
Version: Angstrom
Platform: ARM
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: Distributions
AssignedTo: openembedded-issues at lists.openembedded.org
ReportedBy: david.johnson at lehigh.edu
QAContact: tinderbox-oe at gmx.net
I have discovered that I cannot let my Zaurus simply go to sleep on its own.
If it does suspend due to idleness, the screen will not wake up. A small white
line is visible on the upper left corner, but nothing will revive the screen.
It seems that pressing the suspend/resume button will wake up/suspend the
machine itself, in that the wireless card light and hdd activity light will
come on, off, on, with each keypress. Other keys, such as the shortcut keys,
cause a lot of hard drive activity when it seems to be awake (but with its eyes
closed), so the system seems to run. The network does not auto-connect (is
that a bug??), so I can't access the machine from another. All I can do is
remove the battery.
When I purposely put the machine to sleep by pressing the suspend/resume button
it works fine, except that I have to re-initialize the wireless networking. I
now have the sleep config set to disable sleep and only enable screen dimming.
That works fine.
