Hm.. Looks like patch from http://bugs.openembedded.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1929
is correct, but not applied to current develepment tree :(

PS. but 
PREFERRED_VERSION_lirc="0.8.1+cvs20070307" bitbake lirc
work without patches
