Please do next thing on Zaurus:

1. boot into console mode (no gui)
2. login remote via SSH
3. "source /etc/init.d/opie"
4. "/opt/QtPalmtop/bin/qpe -nodaemon"
5. enable qpobox IM
6. check console output - you will probably see where it fails

You can also use strace on running qpe to check where it freeze.
