Neither the meta-toolchain or meta-sdk packages will build. I can't actually
see what the difference is between these two packges is, so I chose
meta-toolchain and tweeked it to get it to build (see attached).

I have noticed thaan there appears to be some broken symlinks in the resulting
toolchain. For example:

./usr/local/i586/oe/i586-stv-linux/lib/libutil.so -> ../../lib/libutil.so.1

this is linking to a non-existnt file. In my version, I have employed a fix for
this. I'm sure it could be done better, but it seems to work.

I also had to update the way the ipkg indexes are generated.
