Sorry, I don't quite get your comment. Anyway this is after adding require
conf/distro/include/preferred-opie-versions-1.2.3.inc to the local.conf

The preferred-opie-versions-1.2.3.inc defines the following:

OPIE_VERSION ?= "1.2.3"
PREFERRED_VERSION_libopie2 ?= "${OPIE_VERSION}"

If you don't remove gcc-syntax-fix.patch, do_patch will Hunk for
libopie2-1.2.3. AFAIK, 1.2.3 is the stable release for opie.
