My guess is that since it is only changing (failing vs working) on reboot, that
it has something to do with the autodetection of the bluetooth chip.  I don't
know how to substantiate this though, and rerunning /etc/init.d/blueprobe does
not fix the problem.

additional troubleshooting guidance would be appreciated.
