I confirm the problem for the test build
Angstrom-x11-pimlico-image-glibc-ipk-2007.9-test-20071016-akita-installkit.tgz.

Orinoco drivers are loaded instead of hostap. 

Configuration:
Sharp Zaurus SL-C1000 Akita
D-Link DCF-660W WLAN card

$ pccardctl info
PRODID_1="D-Link"
PRODID_2="DCF-660W"
PRODID_3=""
PRODID_4=""
MANFID=d601,0005
FUNCID=6
