(21:58:57) Laibsch: pb_Can you do me a favour and verify that
http://bugs.openembedded.net/show_bug.cgi?id=556 is indeed for kernel 2.4 only
and thus wontfix
(21:59:08) Laibsch: OK, will do
(21:59:35) pb_: Laibsch: no, that patch looks like it is for kernel 2.6
(22:00:01) pb_: the makefile shown there is using the 2.6 kbuild system, it
won't work on 2.4
(22:00:04) Laibsch: OK
(22:01:13) pb_: but, irrespective of that, I am not entirely convinced that
this package is a worthwhile addition to oe.
(22:01:42) Laibsch: alright
(22:01:47) Laibsch: I can't make that decision
(22:02:30) pb_: I guess the test would be whether any distro, or indeed anybody
other than the author, wants to use it.
(22:03:54) pb_: it seems a bit odd to use the sysrq mechanism for tasks like
turning the backlight on and switching VTs. I would have thought there must be
better ways to accomplish that.

setting to wontfix. We'd want to see some kind of demand from an OE-derived
distro before putting that in. You can easily compile and publish your own
packages in the way you are proposing here.

Thank you very much for sharing your work. Looking forward to your continued
contributions.
