bug 1287, bug 1470, bug 1749,  bug 1782, bug 1805, bug 2140, bug 3613 and bug
2435 are probably all about the same problem and can probably be closed once
the fix has been verified.  There were some changes made quite some time ago in
.dev to prevent this problem.

What is the status, what needs to be done, how can we verify this is fixed?
