I came up with a similar patch. I have checked it with by transforming with
xrandr and it works in for all orientations, normal, left, right and inverted.
It even works mirrored in x and y, main window does not work correctly, but the
pointer does seem to.

Can either this patch or Stanislav's please be committed? This has been hanging
around for awhile, and it stops people using akita and machines with the dev
branch.
