           Summary: SD card filesystem errors
           Product: Openembedded
           Version: Angstrom 2007.12
          Platform: ARM
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Distributions
        AssignedTo: openembedded-issues at lists.openembedded.org
        ReportedBy: vdichev at gmail.com

Using my SD card with an ext2 filesystem on the 2007.12 release often results
in filesystem errors. Initially I tried setting up swap on my SD card, but the
OS hangs pretty often then (especially after suspend), so I scrapped the idea.

The problem I then found is that even when copying files, unimportant to the
OS, there are spurious error messages on the console and my files get corrupted
or I cannot see the contents of whole directories or even mount my filesystem
again. I need to fsck every time this happens. This might be a couple of times
a day, so needless to say, I am not keen on using my SD card every day :)

I've long since given up on altboot, but after lots of observations I reach the
conclusion that filesystem errors from my SD card may be the cause for the
following bugs:

http://bugs.openembedded.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1718
http://bugs.openembedded.net/show_bug.cgi?id=1197

So is my SD card damaged? If I remember correctly, these problems started only
after upgrading to OZ 3.5.4.1, and not with 3.5.4. Was that when the kernel got
upped from 2.4 to 2.6? If yes- the driver must have broken.

Please let me know if I there's any additional information I can provide.
