I have the same problem on a PNX4008(ARM9) based platform. Both the virtual
keyboard (xkbd) and the USB keyboard are not working. However, I noticed the
following symptoms:
- when running a virtual terminal (rxvt) on top of Xserver without running a X
session (so xkbd is not running), the USB keyboard works. 
- when launching a X  session (without a gpe login), the calculator works. 

I am wondering whether this is a keyboard configuration problem.
