Summary: Fetchers not run with a clean environment causes wget
to obey user wgetrc.
Classification: Unclassified
Product: Openembedded
Version: unspecified
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: minor
Priority: P3
Component: org.openembedded.dev
AssignedTo: openembedded-issues at lists.openembedded.org
ReportedBy: clarson at kergoth.com
The OpenEmbedded fetchers don't run with a clean environment. As a result,
they can obey user configuration outside of OE, and break fetching. For
example, if the user's wgetrc has recursive = yes, without no-directories =
yes, the files will be downloaded into local subdirectories like that of
upstream, and OE will be unable to locate the successfully downloaded files.
The downloads succeeded, but the tasks report failure. The errors don't let
the user know that while the fetcher returned success, the file doesn't appear
to exist.. that's a related issue, I'll open a second bug for that.
The fix is simply to call env with '-' as the first cmdline argument, before
the rest, to make them run in a clean environment. Any variables that need to
be passed to the fetchers can instead be passed on the env commandline. In
this way, HOME is unset, so no user local configurations will affect the fetch
behavior.
