Some more information on using altboot to 'load' an image:

Before 'can't access tty;job control turned off' is displayed, the message
'error on insmod for /lib/modules/2.6.20.6/kernel/drivers/mmc/mmc_block.ko' is
displayed.
I didn't notice this before because it's quite difficult to read the screen due
to the backlight not being switched on during the altboot procedure.

After the 'can't access tty;job control turned off' message is displayed, a
prompt is displayed. When I key in insmod
/lib/modules/2.6.20.6/kernel/drivers/mmc/mmc_block.ko, the message ' unknown
symbol ...' is displayed.

My guess is that the mmc_block.ko kernel module is required for reading an sd
card. But how to fix this kernel module?
