I'd love to check this in, but it has several problems.

1.) The logics in python.m4 to detect headers does not work for
cross-compiling. It should use distutils.sysconfig or have support for an
explicit --with-python=<dir>

2.) The pkgconfig defsdir variable for pygtk-2.0 does not work for
cross-compiling. We need to have support for an explicit
--with-pygtk-defdir=<dir>

Could I talk you into making a patch?
