I will try to do that...

I can verify the r9 behavior (output) in comment 1. I've noticed
wlan-ng-modules in stable does not support 2.6.24 kernel. fixed in .dev, so
that will be backported soon.

Images built from .dev can boot until alsa soc version message, however
backlight is still off.
