Ok, my FritzBox shows connected, 81% quality, iwconfig says:
wlan0 IEEE 802.11b ESSID:"FRITZ!Boxxxxxxxxxxx"
          Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: 00:04:0E:A3:C4:A1
          Bit Rate:11 Mb/s Tx-Power=15 dBm
          Retry limit:8 RTS thr=1536 B Fragment thr=1536 B
          Encryption key:XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XX Security mode:open
          Power Management:off
          Link Quality:57/100 Signal level=59/100
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
but ifup results in:
ifconfig wlan0
wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:02:8A:3A:74:EA
          UP BROADCAST RUNNING MTU:1500 Metric:1

          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:1980 (1.9 KiB)

root at pdakst:~$ ifup wlan0

Question: how is the regulatory domain set ( the Berlios driver has a tool for
that, i think ). Seems like the device is sending, but not receiving ?!?

Ciao
Klaus
