This is interesting code, the problem is OE has developed in one direction and
this code goes in a slightly different one and the two are not too compatible.
There are issues in this code (e.g. multithreading and multimachine) which are
solved in OE but one thing this code does support and OE doesn't is downloading
of the staging packages which OE doesn't have yet.

The way forward would be to try and add any missing functionality to the setup
now in OE and as such the patches will need reworking. There isn't a resolution
which matches this exactly, I'll go for WONTFIX since we can't apply this, I'd
be very interested in patches against packaged-staging.bbclass though.

In future, please do try and discuss core infrastructure like this on the
mailing list or with the core devs (or even me personally!) if possible so we
don't get any conflicting effort.
