Summary: 2007.13 Feeds not updated any more
Classification: Unclassified
Product: Openembedded
Version: Angstrom 2007.12
Platform: ARM
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: critical
Priority: P3
Component: Distributions
AssignedTo: openembedded-issues at lists.openembedded.org
ReportedBy: hans.ullrich at loop.de
Dear maintainers,
I am running now the oficial version 2007.13 of Angstrom on my SL-C1000
(akita). But it seems for me, the feed for this distribution had been no more
updated for a long time in the past. Only the feed for the unstable (and not
officially released version 2008.XXX) are fixed and maintained by you.
Doing so means: Bugs are fixed in 2008-versions, but not fixed in
2007-versions, although this is the production release.
Just let it make me clear by an example: In 2007-version is a bug in libpurple
( I sent an report), which is fixed in a 2008-version (and closed by the
maintainer), but not in 2007-version (thus the bug is of course still active,
as there is still the old version in it !). Why do you not update the fixed
ones in 2007-versions, too ???
I checked the configuration for ipkg: It is definately pointing to the
2007-repo (or feed), not to 2008-repo (or feed).
If you change them to the 2008-feed, you will get the fixed libraries of course
(using the 2008-feed), but an update will crash the whole system (X does not
start for example, keyboard is not working etc.). And of course, the
2008-version is not to be meant for production use !
So, my begging: Please update the 2007-repo (or feed) with all newer versions
of packages whenever they are running stable, and not only in the 2008-repo (or
feed).
Please feel free to ask for further informations, if this desription is not
clear enough for you. Write in German or English.
Thanks for any help or feedback!
regards
Hans
