I actually believe that this problem stems from a ccache installation on my
build machine. I'm using (not out of choice) CentOS 4.5. My builds finally
completed after about a week of debugging and repeating the same 'fix' patterns
for 4 concurrent builds - om-gta02, cl9400 (new), beagleboard, and ts72xx. Most
of the builds that encountered errors were *-native packages, which makes
complete sense if the build machine's ccache was improperly being used. The
libtool-native install had detected the native gcc command as 'ccache gcc',
which introduced a slew of incorrect rpaths, etc. 

My solution was to just uninstall ccache from the build machine and clean
libtool-native, perl-native, shared-mime-info-native,
libxml2-parser-perl-native, etc, etc, etc. 

I also made a point to change my PATH variable to something slightly more sane
- /bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/java/bin .

After I went through the routine with each build target, OE worked like a
charm.
