With these patchlets i can now
serverBOX> $ nbd-server -r 3333 /dev/hdc

and, on the client:
dm7020> $ modprobe -v nbd
dm7020> $ nbd-client serverBOX 3333 /dev/nbd0
dm7020> $ mount -oro /dev/nbd0 /media/dvd
