[oe-users] updating local copy of OpenEmbedded database - stuck

Hello,
   
  Going through the "getting started" instructions to build a cross-compiler.  When updating the .dev branch of OE.........
   
  "mtn --db=/.../OE.mtn pull monotone.openembedded.org org.openembedded.dev" is failing saying network error: failed to connect: Connection timed out for monotone.openembedded.org. 
   
   So tried pinging monotone.openembedded.org and the ping works fine.  nslookup gave the IP to be 85.214.40.226 (linuxtogo.org) so I tried using the IP instead of the name but same problem.
   
  The other servers mentioned: ewi546.ewi.utwente.nl and monotone.nslu2-linux.org I _cannot_ ping, so those are out.
   
  Any idea as to why I can ping but can't connect?
