Multiple branches with git?

Thanks for the hint, Gregory.

Unfortunately, there's a big fat warning attached to the --shared
option.
I am too new to git to fully understand this warning.  As I understand
it,
my clone may become corrupt if any branches are deleted in the source
repository.  And that can easily happen if branches are deleted in the
official repository and I pull from it after that.
