build on cygwin?

I tryed to build gcc-cross on cygwin and is was not succesful, because it
defines 'i686-cygwin_nt-5.1" as BUILD_SYS, and most 'configure'-s does not
recognize it, as the right one is 'i686-pc-cygwin', but it is not recognized
by bitbake, the error produced.
